Arrival:
Goats - Noon to 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, and 6-9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10;
Lambs - Noon to 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, and 6-11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10.

Judging:
Saturday, October 10, 2009, Market Goats at 10 a.m., Market Lambs to follow.

MARKET GOAT SHOW RULES

Judge: Todd Swift, Johnson City

Entry Fee: $20 per animal

  1. Open to all 4-H and FFA members. Additionally, siblings of participants 5-8 years of age may participate.
  2. All breeds and crosses may be shown.
  3. Wethers or nannies allowed.
  4. Weigh-in Saturday, Oct. 10, 6-9 a.m.
  5. Goats will be divided into three (3) weight divisions. Within each weight division there will be a maximum of four classes.
  6. Weight card must be turned in at time of weigh-in. The show officials will weigh animals and that will be the official show weight. No weigh backs.
  7. No weight limit.
  8. Goats must have milk teeth.
  9. Premiums will be paid. Belt buckles, ribbons and awards to be presented. Belt buckles will be awarded to weight division champions (3 only). Additional prizes will be awarded at show. Grand and Reserve Grand Champion goat will receive a blanket, sponsored by Barbara Wright family.
  10. Collars are allowed
  11. Jackpot Showmanship to take place following judging. All money will be paid back.
  12. All goats, excluding champion and reserve grand champion of show, will be released immediately following show. Must be out of barn no later than 8 p.m.
  13. All animals must be free of external abscesses, sore mouth, ring worms, or pink eye. If the animal is sick leave it at home!
  14. Showmanship participants must have competed in Goat Show and show own animal.
  15. Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion goat of show MUST REMAIN TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PARADE OF CHAMPIONS AT THE SATURDAY EVENING RODEO PERFORMANCE.

MARKET LAMB SHOW RULES

Judge: Todd Swift, Johnson City

Entry Fee: $20 per animal

  1. Wether and ewe lambs eligible to show. Slick shorn lambs only.
  2. Weigh-in 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10. Weight cards are due by 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10.
  3. Exhibitors may show an unlimited number of lambs.
  4. All animals must be free of external abscesses, sore mouth, ring worms, or pink eye. If the animal is sick leave it at home!
  5. Market lamb class open to any 4-H or FFA member. (See Goat Rule #1)
  6. Grand Champion Lamb - award.
  7. Reserve Grand Champion Lamb - award.
  8. Breed Champions will receive belt buckles if there are a minimum of fifteen (15) animals in a breed.
  9. 1st-6th Places in class - Ribbons and additional prizes.
  10. Show Order of Breeds: Southdown, Fine Wool, Fine Wool Cross, Medium Wool.
  11. There will be a Jackpot Showmanship Contest after the judging of lambs. All money will be paid back.
  12. Showmanship participants must have competed in Lamb Show and must show own animal.
  13. Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion Lamb of show MUST REMAIN TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PARADE OF CHAMPIONS AT THE SATURDAY EVENING RODEO PERFORMANCE.

GUADALUPE COUNTY LAMB AND GOAT SHOW

The Guadalupe County Lamb and Goat Show will take place after the regular show. One class of goats and one class of sheep. Entry if free, but you must have shown in prior Sheep & Goat show and live in Guadalupe County. Belt buckles will be awarded.
