59th Fair Queen's Contest

The Guadalupe County Fair Queen's Contest has been a part of the Fair for more than 50 years, with the first Fair Queen's Contest being held in 1950.

It is held annually on Saturday during the Guadalupe County Fair and is open to the first 30 girls living in, or attending a school in Guadalupe County who attend a contestant's meeting and present a completed application.

Each contestant will participate in a personal interview with three out-of-town judges prior to the contest. The day of the contest includes an introduction of contestants in formal gowns. Contestants will also have a style show with clothes provided by Cavender's Boot City in San Marcos.

Judging is based on poise, personal appearance, knowledge and involvement in Fair related activities and spontaenous response to related questions. A queen, princess and duchess are chosen to represent the Guadalupe County Fair for that following year. The royalty appears at numerous functions including parades and festivals during their reign.
